Summary

Whenever an electronic maternity record is accessed there is a need for selected information to be immediately visible to the user.

Providing this sort of information helps to stop the computer being seen as a black hole with no feedback to the user in return for the data being entered.

The precise information displayed or easily accessible will depend on what is most relevant at that time of access.  Some information will always need to be displayed, e.g. Name of the Maternent or the Infant. Some information will change depending on the date e.g. Gestation of Pregnancy, Age of Neonate in Days.  Some will only need to be displayed on request, e.g. specific data which needs to be immediately seen prior to giving an Anaesthetic.

The aim of this volume is to harness the wisdom of crowds as to what data needs to be displayed and when.
