Summary

Most of the eighteen different hospitals where I have worked as a locum over the past few years have spent an immense amount of time developing their own independent electronic guidelines and printed handbooks to circulate their local guidelines and protocols. Having found out how to transfer such handbooks to MS Word in a format which allows them to be printed both on Filofax paper and A4 sized paper, I have several times revised such guidelines to fit into my own Filofax. As a result I now have on my computer guidelines as used at the time in several hospitals. In the interest of better patient care, I am making what I have available on the internet, for others to read as they wish, thus hopefully freeing up more time for direct patient care, and for improving the quality of such locally tailored guidelines internationally.

By providing such a source for material which may be incorporated into any local hospital handbook; there is some hope of reducing the present situation where every hospital (in the world) seems to be expected to create it
